We’re getting right into the thick of fall dressing right now, and we’re asking designers their key tips for dressing for the season. Chris Benzs tip? Buy strategically. “Every season for me is about shopping your closet and getting a few new key pieces,” the pink-haired designer, who is loved by First Lady Michelle Obama, Sophia Bush, and Eva Mendes, told at an intimate dinner celebrating eBay’s new Feed feature. And he suggests this season’s key pieces come with some shine. “For fall, it’s about dressing up and wearing a little bit of sparkle and shine throughout the day, like with jeans or with a shoe. I’m really into that counterpoint.” Thanks, Chris!

Lauren Conrad has taken a page from her own stylebook to promote her latest tome, Starstruck—the second in the Fame Game series—and Lauren Conrad Beauty, a companion to Lauren Conrad Style. The author/fashion designer recently advised readers of her Web site to wear bold colors for fall “to liven up the season’s characteristically structured and tailored silhouettes (and drab palette).” So, in a prime example of practice what you preach, Conrad opted for dresses in punchier hues for some of the book tour stops. She wore a sunny canary yellow Yoana Baraschi dress in New York City, a salmonErin by Erin Fetherston number the next day in Pennsylvania, followed by a bright orange Haryln frock in Miami. The Paper Crown creator balanced her saturated style with nude pumps and her signature…

The Good Wife costume designer Daniel Lawson gave the exclusive inside scoop about what Julianna Margulies wore on last night’s new episode—and the direction he’s taking fashion for her character, power lawyer Alicia Florrick. “We keep nodding to late ‘50s and early ‘60s this season,” Lawson said of his choices, which include this plum Prada suit and red Moschino jacket, as well as jackets by Ralph Lauren and Fendi (shown in the gallery). “I’m so lucky where I get to work on a show where we can pick up a new Fendi piece and be able to use it,” he said. “It’s pretty amazing.” We agree! There was a royal wedding this weekend! Belgian Countess Stephanie of Lannoy wed His Royal Highness Prince Guillame of Luxembourg at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Luxembourg on Saturday—yes, this means she’s a princessin an haute couture creation by celebrity-favorite Lebanese designer Elie Saab. The gown featured ivory lace embroidered with silver thread leaves, three-quarter length sleeves, a silk tulle veil that was also embroidered, and a more than 12-foot-long train. According to a statement from the designer, it required 3,200 hours of work and embroidery, plus 700 additional hours of sewing. That’s 162.5 days of work! A gorgeous tiara completed the look, which accessorized her low chignon hairstyle. Just a day before, the Countess wore another Elie Saab—gray lace dress in a similar style to her wedding gown—for their civil ceremony.

It’s the haircut that launched a thousand snips! Over the summer, Julianne Hough hacked her long blond waves into a chin-skimming bob to film Safe Haven, and it turns out the star is tempted to take off even more. “I keep going shorter, it’s like the curse of the short hair syndrome,” Hough told InStyle. “My friend has a pixie cut and I’ve been wanting to do her style. I probably won’t do that, but I want to!” But the inspiration doesn’t end there—perhaps as a nod to her character in Rock of Ages, Hough has also considered going for a shorn, punk rock ‘do. “I’ve always wanted to shave my head, but that probably won’t happen either,” she added. Now that’s what we’d call an extreme makeover, which would…

[tiImage width=”340″ height=”450″ url=”” credit=”Stephen Lovekin/FilmMagic; Picture Perfect/Rex USA” align=”right” border=”0″ alt=”Robert Pattinson Carey Mulligan”]

Twihards rejoice! Robert Pattinson is confirmed to star opposite Carey Mulligan in Hold On To Me (no release date yet), directed by James Marsh, who previously won Oscars for his documentary films Man On Wire and Project Nim. The new movie is based on a true story and casts Mulligan as one half of a bandit couple who kidnap the richest man in their town for ransom and bury him alive—to dire consequences. Pattinson portrays her (scandal alert!) other love interest, Jimmy. Considering the actress’ turn in Drive with the one and only Ryan Gosling (and her role opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in the forthcoming The Great Gatsby), we can’t help but think Mulligan has cornered the market on sexy co-stars!

The Godling returns! Ryan Gosling was spotted out and about on the Austin, Texas, set of his latest film venture, an as-of-yet-untitled film from director Terrence Malick, which also stars Rooney Mara (remember this smooch?). And even though he obviously looks great in every color, we’re particularly fond of Gosling in cobalt blue. Just look at his face! He’s practically begging to be cuddled. His eyes are saying, “Hey girl, I really need a hug right now.” And we’re more than happy to oblige, Ry. A girl can dream…

The most popular hairstyle among the X Factor judges? Bangs! On the heels of Demi Lovato revealing a new fringed ‘doBritney Spears was spotted in Los Angeles with a brow-skimming addition to her long blonde layers. While the performer’s cut isn’t as blunt as the style seen in her Fantasy Twist ads, we love how the wispy bangs frame Spears’s face, and serve as a fond reminder of the hairstyles from her old-school music videos. (Here’s your excuse to watch “Hit Me Baby One More Time!”) So, tell us:Do you like Britney’s bangs? [tiImage width=”340″ height=”450″ url=”” credit=”Getty Images; Rex; Retna Ltd.; Splash News” align=”right” border=”0″ alt=”Ryan Murphy Glee”]

Glee fans across the nation have been bemoaning the fact that the show hastaken a month-long forced hiatus because of inconsequential things like baseball and the presidential debates—so when we saw series creator Ryan Murphy at the Golden Hearts Gala in New York, we had to ask him why he devastated fans even further with the #heartbreaking episode from a couple of weeks ago, which saw Rachel and Finn part ways. “To me that episode was really special,” Murphy told “It was about this group of people who we’ve followed for three years in many ways making the transition from kids to adults. I didn’t feel it was realistic that all of them would hang on to the same high school relationships.” But will Finn and Rachel stay apart…
